Papillons were originally known as the Continental Toy Spaniel, or Dwarf Spaniel.  Their true origins are not clear, but they came to prominence in the European royal courts of the 17th and 18th century.  The early dogs had the dropped ears (known as Phalènes) but the breeders of the 19th century developed the upright ears which are more common today.

Papillon is French for butterfly and these little dogs are a charming dog to own, full of life and intelligence and a marvellous companion.  The dog is dainty and moves quickly with its curled, plumed tail set on high, long silky coat and feathered legs.  A true little butterfly, flitting about, always busy and on the move.

Pip had Chihuahuas for 15 years as pets.  Whilst following Grant and Chevy around the show circuit she decided she'd like to have a go at showing and set about finding the right breed.

It had to be small, showy, have a long coat and a temperament suitable to living with big dogs.

The Papillon fitted the bill perfectly and Cory, Columbea Of Andoraye, arrived in early 1993 - followed by a multitude of others.

Pip has imported dogs from Diana Rowe of Dubalbow in Australia, and in the last couple of years has commenced her own breeding programme using the Dubalbow dogs as her starting point.
